A heart cannot blame and be grateful at the same time. A heart cannot hold bitterness and gratitude at the same time. A heart cannot wallow in self-pity and bask in thanksgiving at the same time. A heart filled with gratitude has no room for negativity.

When a person seeks to be grateful, they begin to see the value in everything good, and the bad is diminished in significance to them. When a person walks in gratitude, other people’s souls seem more important to them, every person becomes a blessing. Gratitude turns burdens into gifts, and pain into knowledge. Gratitude pushes out darkness. Gratitude shakes dreariness and wakes up the senses. “As my heart sees, so the world seems to me.” A grateful heart perceives a world for which to be grateful.

When I am grateful for my current situation, I send out signals into the universe inviting to myself more for which to be grateful. If I am in a state of gratitude for something that has not yet occurred, I invite it, or something like it, to occur. This is called “being grateful for things hoped for,” and there is power behind it. To recognize and acknowledge the overwhelming good that has always existed, is to have a Grateful Heart.

Grateful Heart (Petro-Person)

A heart 'perceiving in a sunny or bright way,' is represented in this figure. When the heart 'sees' in a light filled way the person will see things for which to be grateful. This seeing in gratitude reflects back to the heart.
