Among other tribes and peoples who practice the same activity, the Diné people of northern Arizona (otherwise known as Navajo people) create beautiful images using multiple colors of sand. These 'sand paintings' convey a wide variety of stories and concepts. In the middle of most of these sand paintings can be found the symbol for fire. Two logs stacked perpendicular to each other. The fire is at the middle of it all.
