When I choose to work hard it means I am choosing many other things: It means choosing to find my own way in this life. It means personally contributing to my own individual sense of self-worth. It means staring down the nay-sayers. It means proving to those who have no confidence in me, that I don't need their confidence. I prove to myself that I can accomplish worthy goals under my own power. It means confirming the faith of those who believe in me and have high hopes for me.

Can I, from all the dreams that there are, find mine? Can I, having found my dream, journey toward it undeterred? Yes, I can! As long as I tend to the fire that waits in the center of me, kindle it with small bundles of work at first, further ignite it with steady effort, awaken it with a constant habit of fruitful determination, I most certainly can! The fire in the center of me stands at the ready, waiting for me to choose. It is my Center Fire.

Center Fire (Petro-Person)

Among other tribes and peoples who practice the same activity, the Diné people of northern Arizona (otherwise known as Navajo people) create beautiful images using multiple colors of sand. These 'sand paintings' convey a wide variety of stories and concepts. In the middle of most of thee sand paintings can be found the symbol for fire. Two logs stacked perpendicular to each other. The fire is at the middle of it all.
